Magnified

from $15.00

What is broken is made whole.

Mended with time and love and intention and gold.

✦

Through a difficult and transformative time, this piece came to me and I just couldn’t let go of it until it was completed.

I struggle to put into words all that this piece encompasses for me, but this piece draws directly from the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold lacquer called kintsugi. The breakage and repair become part of the beautiful history of an object, rather than something to disguise or be ashamed of. The pottery is no less whole for having been broken - its beautify and resilience has been magnified.

What seems shattered can still be complete; can still be enough.

It’s dynamic and layered and nuanced; but like us, it’s broken and whole and beautiful all at the same time ✦
